A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Right now, I'm reading:
Library books. What a gift the public library system is, lemme tell you.

My favorite story of all time is:
yet to be written.

In bed I like to read:
Bedtime stories with Olivia. It used to be about her snuggling into me while I read, but now (more often than not) she is reading to herself while I read my own book, or she's reading to me. It's a cool evolution.

Besides SMITH, I read stories at:
I'm a news junkie, so mostly, it's current events when I'm not here. That, and Facebook dreck.

If you were to throw up your hands in exasperation and yell "it's the story of my life," what would you be talking about?
I don't honestly think I'd ever do this. Even in the moments that are most extreme, I know that there is something universally true in every experience -- so it's not just the story of my life... it's a story of life.

What six words would I tell my teen self if I could go back in time?
You will leave this little town, and you will still appreciate what it has given you.
