A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here and on SmithTeens. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

ABOUT ME

Right now, I'm reading:
Capstones are complete! I checked out a mystery from the library and The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga today. I'm excited to dig into summer reading for a few precious weeks.

My favorite story of all time is:
yet to be written.

In bed I like to read:
Bedtime stories to Olivia. There's nothing like a great book and a snuggly, jammied rising-Kindergartener to make me content at the close of the day.

Besides SMITH, I read stories at:
work.

If you were to throw up your hands in exasperation and yell "it's the story of my life," what would you be talking about?
I don't honestly think I'd ever do this. Even in the moments that are most extreme, I know that there is something universally true in every experience -- so it's not just the story of my life... it's a story of life.

What six words would I tell my teen self if I could go back in time?
Don't ever lose your unquestioning belief in your own capabilities.

The song that encapsulates the soundtrack of my life is?
I have a whole soundtrack, and it's rock, pop, hip hop, and indie... and The Beatles.
