Slow down; why grow so fast?

When my children were babies it seemed that every mother I met had the same advice, "relish this time; it goes so fast." Now my son is almost 12 and my daugher 8 and they're growing in leaps and bounds in front of my eyes - -what can I do to slow down time and really relish childhood?
