A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Alzheimer's Disease is forever my enemy.

by NumbrOneAunt on October 24, 2012   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

we lost my mom to alzheimer's in 2009. i've been struggling for a long time to write a poem that would express how i feel about the devastation this disease visits on so many. i wrote this poem yesterday. i thank banjo dan for previewing it and assuring me that i do not need to be embarrassed to publish it before the many REAL writers on this site.

Alzheimer’s, grim thief
Steals loved ones bit by bit,
Leaving behind the body to die
The second death,
Snatching even the small comfort of
Goodbye.
