A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

There're no words for this scene....

I am the director of dining services for the Newtown CT public school system, and Sandy Hook Elementary has one of the cafterias that I manage. This quiet New England town, it's citizens and others that support it in all kinds of capacities are forever changed. This week we are burying our dead, dodging the media circus (although they are strangely missing today)and adding to the countless informal memorials all over town. On the brighter side, the Newtown and Monroe BOEs are feverishly working together to bring a mothballed middle school, located on the border between our two towns, back on line to begin school for the SHE students on January 2, 2013. Classroom and the support rooms such as the cafeteria are being moved from SHE and meticuleously recreated in the classrooms of new school. I am honored to be a part of the process to promote the process of healing in our community. I just wanted to take a minute to let the Six community know that you are represented in some small way in this recovery effort.
