A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

A microphone took my blues away.

Karaoke night with my sister and friend again last night. Different location, better selection. So we killed it.

I sang "Call & Answer" by Barenaked Ladies, finished my beer, sang "Santeria" by Sublime (which is a great karaoke song, I have discovered, because everyone sings it with you at the top of their lungs), started another beer and sang "Zombie" by the Cranberries, and finished off with "Smooth Criminal."

Night was going well until I gave my photography website to an older woman and middle aged man who both had great voices and told them to contact me if they want promo shots. The guy started going off about how he was an alien, but he wasn't gay - and he could prove it to me right now in the bathroom. Ew.

Other than that, great night. Much needed. And I woke up this morning feeling like I'm going to get out of here eventually.
