A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

And I live with these people...

(as always, yes it has a backstory)

One of my step-mom’s friends, who stays with us periodically had to have a blood transfusion today‚Ķ Her reaction was to refuse to get it because she was afraid that the blood was dirty because “it could have come from a filthy homosexual who has aids or something.” It wasn’t until her nurse told her that gay people can’t donate blood, that she agreed to it. And after that said "I'd rather die than share a room let alone blood with one of those ***'s." All the while my step-mom's mom (who lives with us) is standing there nodding and agreeing with her... and no one said a word.

Needless to say neither knows that I'm trans or bi, or that my boyfriend (whom they both like and think is the greatest kid in the world) is gay; I guess it's gonna stay that way too.
