A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

I work at a school, where my position is funded by a grant. This grant is up in September, and I have been working to determine whether there will be a position for me when the money is out.

Also, there's an awesome opportunity to go to Gallaudet university in Washington, D.C. For two weeks, all expenses paid. I really want to go but there's a contract, and if you go on the trip, you must work for a year after at the school or pay the cost of the trip back to the school. I can't guarantee that and I can't afford to pay the money back.

Anyway, I've been pushing for an answer about a position here to determine whether I could safely participate in the trip. I got this email from my boss, telling me that her boss recommends that I not go on the trip because he can't guarantee me a position next year. It hurt.
