A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here and on SmithTeens. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

SIX WORD » LIFE

Night will always succumb to day

by Primrose on March 4, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

I was going through a hard time a couple weeks ago and needed a way to let out my feelings. So, I put my pen to paper. This was the result. I realized that I can be my own motivation and inspiration.

Though the sky is a dark, whirling mass
I won't wait inside for the storm to pass
'Cause it isn't about hiding from rain
It's about learning to dance through the pain
Embrace those times when the clouds cry
Don't let these moments pass you by
They are rare, they are sweet
When the ground and sky meet
An exotic mixture of joy and fear
You can't tell the difference between rain and tear
But you gotta dance through it anyway
Night will always succumb to day
And soon you will come to realize
All you need is before your eyes
