St. Patrick's parade weekend. We're in a bar and start talking to a couple from Ireland. Within 20 minutes, she says that Americans have totally f*cked up this country, that Catholics and Protestants are pretty much the same thing, that my father's illness and subsequent death are no excuse for not voting and I am a bad mother for thinking our adult children living independently (as opposed to living with us) is a good thing. I walked out or I would have cut the bitch. Only in NYC....
