A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

You left something inside of me

by EnMasse on March 31, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

where do I put it now?
you left words in my heart,
perceptions in my mind,
what meaning have they now?
you left a chasm I cannot renegotiate,
questions I cannot take to task
you left yourself all around me,
memories of you loiter loosely at my door
I see your hands working on something,
I relive the kiss you gave once more
the gaze you tossed in my direction,
left a permanent dent on my restraint
you left a beginning to brown,
you left no excuse in the middle
you left me with unfinished wisdom,
and an end,
nowhere in my line of vision.

3/30/13, Left Yourself
