Thus, I am pleasantly surprised — because I remain pleasantly alive — when the crossing traffic slows for the yellow light at the intersection where I wait. And comes to a stop at the red light. After a look left and a look right, I gratefully proceed under the yellow flag. One new assumption under the checkered flag.
