A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

It's all a matter of packaging

by sisterpoet on April 9, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

My Dad has a great saying ...opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one and they all stink. Another great one is "same s#*t, different bow. So I look at what is on the table, the package. I can be fooled by the packaging, wrapped up in the packaging. Upon closer inspection, the package with the pink bow is the same s%*t as the package with the black bow. If I allow myself to be lulled by the lure of what looks good/what looks right/what should be...I ignore the reality that underneath it is basically all the same. Life requires much of me, always has and apparently always will. It requires much of all of us. Some appear more equipped than others to roll with all the punches. Some days I consider myself one of them...the competent, the strong, the beacons of light and life and hope. And other days, I am just human.
