A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Goin' there but ain't doin' THAT!

I had the pleasure of meeting a charming man at a local radio station last week who, like very few people in this area, was without any discernible accent. I asked him where he was from and so on. He said he was originally from Colorado but more recently from Kansas. Came here quite recently as a professor at a state university. Told me about a friend of his in Kansas who called before he made the move, to say that he'd just seen an episode of "Moonshiners." In this episode, the moonshining clan's patriarch was wearing an old, torn t-shirt from our local university where this gentleman had already accepted a teaching position. It was, he said, too late to turn back.
