A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Every word you say to me

by EnMasse on April 15, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

is another drop filling my heart,
another permanent stain I cannot eliminate
It does not matter what you are saying
or of what we speak, every sound you make
is another link in the chain
When I disconnect, you spread
and hit like a monsoon rain
I feel you invade, each level you take
leaves me weaker
You are the most beautiful soul I’ve ever seen
and the intensity of what you bring, terrifies me
I don’t know what to do with it; don’t know how to handle it
I don’t know if I can love you the way that you need
because I haven’t loved you yet
And I don’t know why you show me these things;
why you engage me in talk, then say you do not
Why do you fill me up with all of your stuff?
Give me only answers please.

4/14/13, Spread
