A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

I spend time nursing copious thoughts

about you
I continue conversations I knew we would have
I move backward in time and remember,
the many days we spoke of inconsequential things
I leap to the middle of our brief interlude,
and find a moment in time when you embraced me
I fast forward to the present and hear
the last words you told me - what you would do -
they stumble across my heart like a luke warm dream
this pattern repeats in a monotonous loop
each moment in truth feeding another
my cocoon filled with you and with me is all I need;
I live this way now and it doesn’t bother me
one day soon this film will be so worn, so utterly torn,
I won’t be able to play it anymore.
