A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Behind the scenes, featuring JimTom's username.

Because I know everybody wants to read all about it. Haha, my name is not Jim or Tom in any way, shape, or form. You see, JimTom is a legend in the North Carolina mountains. Jim Tom is a 66 year old moonshiner, who has been evading pursuit of the law since he was young. He has evaded death several times. He refused the amputation of his leg after a motorcycle accident (which healed back to normal.) When he was in prison, on charges not related to moonshining, he would brew al ohol in the prison's kitchen and sell it to the inmates. He also just gave a lot of it away because it was such a good brew, the guards would keep quiet. so the reason I chose the living legend JimTom as my username, is for no reason at all. I just watched "Moonshiners."
