A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here and on SmithTeens. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Mind over Matter, Mentor atop Student

by PoeticallyPondering9 on May 22, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

This is my deepest, my truest, and my most destined memoir. A fate I was afraid to share because I was ashamed of it, ashamed of my decisions that led me down a treacherous, spiraling path of forbidden love, murderous guilt, attempted suicide, handcuffed arrest, sedated madness, agonizing betrayal, and finally, although it feels as if I am still waiting, victorious triumph. Read it twice and you will understand. I have been talking about him in the majority of my memoirs... And the rarest irony lies within this one. Mind over Matter never truly existed. It began with mind: philosophy, literally. But, when the meadow came pouring into our affair, it never triumphed over substance. We were both thinkers, but he had a secret life and I was blind to it. Just a crush on a teacher, never thought he would crush on me back...
