A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

We recently had dinner with some long time friends (we met in Mommy & Me with our two year old sons who are now 16.) She is Jewish he is 'not.' Before they married, they agreed to raise their children Jewish (he wanted them to have a faith based construct, but care what it was) and 'celebrate' all the Christian holidays. My husband asked them each how much of their 'bargain' they felt they 'stuck to' and each replied separately 100%, but then he added. "but I made that bargain from a place of ignorance, I didn't know I was committing to $$$ Bar Mitzvah or a $$ confirmation trip to Israel (from which their son had only recently returned) to which she replied,"no one ever said it's cheap to be Jewish."
