After receiving my Buddhist name these were the first words of my 'master':
"All religions and spiritual paths are grounded on loving kindness and compassion. God or no god, that is the true essence of all spiritual search. It is not your task to antagonize anyone with a different belief. Nor to feel superior because you're a Buddhist now".
After learning this, I always take a moment to greet the Jehovah witnesses, when they ring my doorbell. While still at the door, I listen to their message and I always end up sharing this backstory in my own words.
I never invite them in, but we always say goodbye with a genuine smile, and that's never a bad start for Sunday morning.
