A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

SIX WORD » LIFE

Coming upon 1 year. Matching still.

by BecomingLuke on July 3, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

Growing up we always got mistaken as either each other or twins, because we looked so alike and I was so small for my age. There's some pictures where it takes family a few seconds to figure which one is me and which one is her. My dad keeps joking that we're misplaced twins.

Just about a year ago I came out to my family as being transgender, and my sister started kicking their butts towards tolerating me.
Even now though we still match. We have basically the same glasses, same hair color (I lost a bet so it's now red), almost the same height and still the same attitude.
