A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

Is Paris Couture about subjugating women?

by lillybrook on July 7, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

Looking through photo galleries of Paris Couture Fashion Week this morning, and I stumbled across a photo gallery of Maison Martin Margiela photos from the runway. When I saw the first picture of a model with her face completely covered by what looks like a beret set crown to chin, I thought "This must be from backstage - maybe a makeup prep trick I don't know?" And then I clicked through more. Slender women -- skinny, skinny women honestly -- barely clothed in the couture they are modeling, with all their faces covered with bags. Like corpses or torture victims. As if the sequins and flowers could make the design less hideous.

I am appalled.
