A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here and on SmithTeens. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Went from hesitant to now confident

by jl333 on July 17, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

Recently I've been working as a personal assistant to many families. My random jobs vary daily. Among some those various jobs, people have been asking me to fix stuff. Obviously some of the requests are intimidating. But with the help of YouTube, I've been able to conquer jobs that I ordinarily wouldn't. A couple of weeks back, I fixed a washing machine and a stove. In the last two days, I fixed a dishwasher, vacuum, and power washed 3 houses! Today I'm fixing Plantation shutters and a broken cupboard. I'm now feeling quite confident in this new line of work, especially when the employers are equally impressed. I'm no longer hesitant at the unknown, but rather want to 'learn how'.
