A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Initial impressions: Numbskulls, bad. Numbskulls, good

by Staraj on August 26, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." — H. L. Mencken

"There's a sucker born every minute." — P. T. Barnum

Likely their final impressions, too.

PS 1 — Some debate as to whether or not Barnum actually uttered his famous six. But he nevertheless later embraced it. So, it's his.

PS 2 — Sorry for the cynical six, but this is what happens when I watch too many cable TV news/talk shows, which often feature numbskull politicians addressing their numbskull constituents. (Who else WOULD they elect, except a fellow numbskull?)

Can I hitch a ride in that handbasket?
