A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

Best friend will help me die.

by DynamicDbytheC on September 9, 2013   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

Some of you know that my Oncologist sent me for a PET scan because I had abnormal lumps near the area of my previous malignant melanoma. I said I did not care one way or another about the results. If I was going to die, maybe everything that happened in the past year would make sense. Yesterday, my best friend Michelle(who just donated her hair to Locks of Love again) went for a hike with me. Several years ago, her close friend from college died in her 30s. Michelle was there her friend during Hospice and she was there for James and I when he was in Hospice. I looked at her and said, "It just hit me, I could be told that I am going to die this week. I have no one to take care of me now that James is gone. Would you help me die?"
She said yes.

PET scan was clear.
