My birthday's this Saturday but my KaraokeFest is on the 18th. For the past 12 years, I've celebrated my birthday by throwing myself a party - this is the only way that someone who truly loves their birthday can celebrate it by doing exactly what they want to do. For the past 4 years, I've called my birthday party KaraokeFest. Obviously, karaoke is a major aspect. I try to make it interesting for people who are not huge fans of getting on stage by offering them a fabulous prize bag (all rock star themed gifts) if they'll take a chance on karaoke roulette and pull a song name (all my favorites) out of a bag and actually have the chutzpah to sing it. People, after a little liquid courage, really embrace the karaoke and the gifts by the end of the night. Ohhhh, I so LOVE my birthday. (And this will be my 39th but I will love it next year too, and the year after, and the year after...).
