A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

NBC studio tour; then, news reader.

On one of our sightseeing days, my husband and I took in the NBC studio tour, hoping the SNL studio would be one we'd get to see. Being a Sunday, we got the quiet tour with not much happening. At the end of the tour, we were ushered into a room to watch a short video on makeup. Interesting, but not what we had expected. Before we left the room, the page asked for two volunteers who could read English. I can do that, I thought, so I raised my hand. My husband raised his, and we became the NBC news reader and weatherman. They filmed us, took our pictures at the news desk, and of course, had the DVD and photo available for us to purchase on our way out.

Hype? Yes. Fun? That, too. Yet another New York experience for my journal.
