A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here and on SmithTeens. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Houghton's great flood; needing Noah's help!

by BronzeArkansan on January 21, 2014   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

-Goodness gracious. It is so cold up here, and our plumbing is so messed up right now. On Saturday a pipe between our campus center and my dorm burst, so we didn't have running water in either place all day. And then TODAY I get in the lunch line when all of the sudden a pipe carrying boiling hot water bursts, goes through a couple of ceiling tiles (our caf is on the 2nd floor), and the building had to be evacuated. Oy vey!
-Naturally it is all anybody has been talking about all day long, with a surplus of Noah's Ark jokes and #thegreatflood trending in our area. I think my favorite was "Travelling in pairs is nothing new to Houghton." ;)
