My matchmaking career is in tatters.

by catsmeow on January 27, 2014   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

Met a woman In Washington who seemed like a perfect match for my fishing buddy in Alaska. They had lots in common, expressed similar views about what they wanted in a relationship and out of life. I wasn't trying to matchmake, but thought I was brilliant when the idea popped into my head as I was talking to her.

Fast forward two months. It took a month to get them to start talking to each other and then they never stopped; phone conversations, texting, email. I was right! They were perfect for one another. He arranged a four day visit.

After day two, I am invited for dinner, along with other friends. A match made in heaven. These two are really hitting it off. Could get serious. My god, I AM brilliant. He extends his visit an extra week. Oops.

Too much, too soon. She begins finding reasons to avoid time with him. He takes long walks to get out of the house. She gets manic. He gets depressive. They both begin drinking too much. It's a disaster.

And me, I am ending my career before it has begun.
