A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

SixContest #26: Memorial Day Messages in Six Words

Memorial Day touches everyone differently. Many remember those who died in active military service, while others take the day to reflect on their own lives. That is why there are many ways to enter this week's SixContest. Submit Six Words to honor those who gave their life, or submit a six-word story about the holiday weekend. If you're a member of the armed forces, share what Memorial Day means to you in six. We're collaborating with U.S. Army veterans Mike Nemeth and Shaun Wheelwright on a new book, Six-Word War Stories [http://sixwordwarbook.com/], and some of the best submissions may be included in the book (out later this year). Your six words can include a backstory (we love reading them!), but please submit only one entry per comment. So, what are your Memorial Day plans for 2014?

This SixContest runs through Friday, 5/23 until 3:00PM ET. Our winner will take home a sleek key tag thanks to our friends at variouskeytags.com. Submit your entries in the comments below or on our social media pages (remember to tag #sixwords): facebook.com/sixwordmemoirs | twitter.com/sixwords | sixwordmemoirs.tumblr.com
