A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

SixContest #29: Celebrate Gay Pride Month This June!

To commemorate the Stonewall riots that occurred in 1969, the month of June was declared LGBT Pride Month. Many pride events will be held during this month, celebrating the impact of the LGBT community in the world. That’s why for this SixContest we’re asking you to join in on the celebration. Your six words can include a backstory (we love reading them!), but please submit only one entry per comment. What does Gay Pride Month mean to you?

This SixContest runs through Friday, 6/20 until 3:00PM ET. Submit your entries in the comments below or on our social media pages (remember to tag #sixwords): facebook.com/sixwordmemoirs | twitter.com/sixwords | sixwordmemoirs.tumblr.com
