I couldn't help overhearing this lady telling her family about messages she was getting on social media. Facebook, I guess. They were having dinner together, meeting up with the older son who lived here, but they lived far away. So after dinner conversation is the mom looking at her phone, telling them who has contacted her....

Mom: So, listen to this...this guy I knew in pre school just said....

Son: Wait, what? Pre-school? What did he say, "Oh yeah, I remember you? ....You could barely talk in pre school!"

Mom: Well it turns out he knows somebody who knows me and.....
Anyway, guess what!! He lives right here! He's asking how long we'll be in town. We can catch up!"

Dad: Well, I don't know.....

Son: Catch up? Like 50 years worth? Wow! You look the same!! I remember how well you fingerpainted. Green was your favorite color. Is it still?

Mom: Oh guess what? Fred is asking whether random inquiries can cause stuff to happen. Isn't that hilarious?

Son: The preschool guy?

Mom: No, Fred...You know, he was married to Gloria, but they got divorced or she died or something...anyway he says....

And I wonder why people don't text me back. They have far more interesting things to do with their time. Now I understand!

:) Sorry if I sound like a social media snob. I'm not really. But this just got to me today.
