A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

Smiles for photos saying my name.

by enginethatcould on July 29, 2014   |  FacebooktwitterTumblr

My brother is a never-ending source of inspiration and awe for me - he has mastered skills that no one could have predicted as being possible given his cognitive challenges. But smiling for the camera is not one of them! Try taking a picture, and, unless caught off-guard, he comes up with the goofiest looking grimace that is nothing like his beautiful natural smile. A few years ago, on an impulse, instead of saying "Smile!" I said, "Say my name!"

He did... and now, for pictures, he says my name.... with love spilling over, eyes shining, and a beatific smile.

How lucky am I, to have such joy in my life as this?
