A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Must be a full moon because…

SixContest #33: Behold the Power of the Supermoon.

The cosmos are stirring! As the biggest supermoon of the summer approaches on August 10, a Perseid meteor shower is predicted to happen at the same time. Could it be just a coincidence that Neil Armstrong's birthday is August 5?

Moons carry a mystical lore, and some believe they can cause bizarre effects. Therefore, this SixContest asks you to finish the statement in six words: "Must be a full moon because…"

Your Six Words can include a backstory (we love reading them), but please submit only one entry per comment. What are you expecting from the supermoon?

This SixContest runs through Friday, 8/15 (two weeks!) until 3:00PM ET. Submit your entries in the comments below or on our social media pages (remember to tag @sixwords): facebook.com/sixwordmemoirs | twitter.com/sixwords | sixwordmemoirs.tumblr.com
