A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

I don't decide what defines me.

I've been diagnosed with ADD since i was 7. I've known I was bisexual since i was 13. I realized you don't get to choose who to fall in love with at 14. I learned not everyone will accept what I define myself as if it doesnt fit theirs at 16. I learned life is to short to end it yourself at 12. I learned not everyone is going to notice when something is wrong at 6. I learned my opinion matters nothing but spending time with me is worth everything at 15. I learned even family doesn't have to accept you at 16.

I learned sometimes you need to take the first step to being who you want to be regardless of what everyone else defines you as at 16.
