A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

SixContest #35: Your Six-Word Back to School Stories

With book bags zipped, lunches packed, and pencils sharpened, children across the U.S. are returning to school. One can't help but get nostalgic upon seeing those crowded, infamous yellow buses. For this SixContest, we're asking you to share your back-to-school stories. Tell us about the successes, walking down the halls with the best outfit and confidence to spare. Or share your first day failures, tripping on the front steps with everyone in sight. Your Six Words can include a backstory (we love reading them), but please submit only one entry per comment. What are your fondest back-to-school memories?

This SixContest runs through Friday, 9/12 (two weeks!) until 3:00PM ET. Submit your entries in the comments below or on our social media pages (remember to tag @sixwords): facebook.com/sixwordmemoirs | twitter.com/sixwords | sixwordmemoirs.tumblr.com
