A Six-Word Memoir® is the story of your life—some part of it or all of it—told in exactly six words.

In classrooms and boardrooms, churches and synagogues, veteran's groups and across the dinner table, Six-Word Memoirs have become a powerful tool to catalyze conversation, spark imagination or simply break the ice.

Here on Six Words, we offer a simple platform to share the short, sharp story of your life, as well as provide daily prompts to share your six-word takes on the topics of our times.

More than half a million short stories have been shared here. Read more about six.

So give six a try—and make your words count.

Have cancer, fighting it, Will Win!

2 months ago (during a self exam) I discovered a lump in my left breast. I was always considered a little dense, at least that was what one mammogram showed, years ago. I figured this was nothing new. Boy, was I wrong. The lump was big enough that I didn't want a lumpectomy (the name still sounds funny) and risk the possibility of a piece of that lump escaping. I was never very big to begin with, and my son and daughter are already half grown (teenagers, what else?) so, I opted for a mastectomy (actually, the names aren't so funny). As I sit here, one-sided, I realize that the work isn't done yet. The next battle is with chemotherapy. Well, there goes that dandruff problem.
