They say good things come to those who wait, and that has perhaps never been more true than in 2020. For many of us, the future seems to have just dropped off the map, and the present isn’t much more clear.

We’ve given up a lot of what makes life “normal,” and it’s easy to fantasize about a first meal in a restaurant after months of take-out, a visit with a relative who you’ve only seen through a screen for so long, a stroll through a museum, a good, long hug, or even some version of national unity in these intense times. And there are of course the ways in which waiting has remained the same, such as those slow burn romances on our favorite TV shows, the anticipation of a package due to arrive any day now, and those moments just before the phone rings.
