We read Linkletter's encyclopedia every night.

Describing my Dad in six words reminded me of a childhood memory involving words and stories. I was the kid who hated going to sleep, never wanted to miss anything going on in our lively household. I'd been given a brand new set of \"Art Linkletter's Picture Encyclopedia for Boys and Girls,\" so my father ingeniously decided that we could read a few pages each night if I'd get into bed to read them. If I remember correctly, aardvark was first. We would read entries and then I'd get to check them off with hot pink or purple colored ink mini-pens (it was the groovy '70's!) which of course added to the fun. A natural storyteller, my Dad would often embellish the entry we had just read together. I can't remember if he read the words or I did; or maybe we took turns reading out loud. I will ask him if he remembers, which I'm sure will lead to more stories about those days when learning, curiosity and dreaming were the most important words.
