the same game.
Not always she would come to share white whispers at my window.
When the lights left my room, I watched as she crept through the shadows on my bed.

Gazing up, I saw her soft round body as a haloed luminescent pearl.
Sometimes I imagined an enormous peep hole on a black wall.
I wanted to stand tall enough to look through it;
my child’s mind wild with fantasies of what I might see.

She cast all darkened scary things away.
In her most expeditious manner monsters stayed at bay.
Her one eye ruled over them as sentinel.

Inside her gentle glance, sheer tendrils of moonlight maze
lulled me to sleep; all the while I knew she would save me,
