Vegemite: The demon spread of Australia.

I'm in Australia on a study abroad trip for my university back in the States. I've been told multiple times that I must try Vegemite. When the time came I spread as much vegemite on my cracker as I would peanut butter. I can say that that was the worst decision ever. It's nasty. I don't know what the Aussie's think of when they eat it. Who came up with the idea anyway? And when you ask what Vegemite is exactly, you never get a straight answer. It's always a variety of: \"Well, it's a yeast extract.\" Anyway you put it is not going to justify me trying it ever again. Saying it's a yeast extract is not helping it's cause.
