Ways to pass dark winter nights?

I took a nap at 4:30 and woke up at 5:30. It was already pitch-black out. These days are so hard for me to get through. I'm feeling it more than ever this year with everything that's happened and how far from home we are. It's possible we will be asking to break our lease (the lease allows for this with two month's rent) and moving back to Philadelphia. That would mean packing and moving again in the next two weeks. Still no work, but better prospects there. Everything about these days is a permanent leap of faith.

All of my getting-through-the-winter methods since I started noticing SAD have been unhealthy. For my son, for myself, I need to try to stay upbeat but it's really hard for me. I miss the sunlight. What do you do to keep yourself chipper during these dark days?
