Some of the strangest and most wonderful things happen at my kitchen table on a regular basis. I added two leaves to the table on a whim and laughed when I noticed that the wood on the inserts looked brand new, while the usual table parts we used looked absolutely pathetic in comparison. But some kitchen magic worked itself into those inserts. During this holiday season the empty chairs were filled, love blossomed, wrongs were righted and plenty of food babies were conceived - all at my kitchen table. It was all quite wonderful and totally worth the mismatched finishes. I couldn't help but think that my already mystical memory making table also makes magic when it's given a little room to grow.
