Thank you Ms Dickinson for your poetry! Some of my favorites are:

A word is dead

A word is dead
When it is said,
Some say.
I say it just
Begins to live
That day.

We never know how high we are

We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise;
And then, if we are true to plan,
Our statures touch the skies.

The heroism we recite
Would be a daily thing,
Did not ourselves the cubits warp
For fear to be king.

Surgeons Must Be Careful

Surgeons must be very careful
When they take the knife!
Underneath their fine incisions
Stirs the Culprit,--Life!
-------------------
Not In Vain

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
