Classroom of the Month: Word choice and empathy in Tabitha Cooper’s English Classroom

A nation mourns for innocence lost.

Not only did 20 innocent children lose their lives at the hands of a stranger, hundreds more lost the innocence of hearing gunshots in their school and later knowing that their principal teacher and friends were dead and not knowing why. That's not something many of those kids will ever get over, it's not something you can ever unsee or unhear.

Why is it that in the \"land of the free\" we have so many people so willing to walk into a school with a gun and kill innocent people? Why is it that so many people are so disturbed and nothing is being done?
