His eyes turned dark. Don't go.

A few years back I worked at a small town local bar. One of the regulars, Mike, wasn't quite right ...he knew it and we all knew it. He would sit at the end of the bar and I could tell when he was dark. I could see it in his eyes. It was like a switch -- one minute he would be good then without warning his eyes would change. Some nights the owner would come out of his office and tell me he was heading out. Several nights I told him \"hell no you aren't, Mike is dark right now\". Boss Man said he didn't understood me, but he would reluctantly hang out longer. I want to believe Mike would never hurt me since I protected him from some of the other idiots, but being alone with Mike in an isolated small town bar wasn't an option in my head.
