You know, it's a natural if not necessary question in the wake of the events of Friday last. I'm a teacher. I don't own a gun. I'm of a liberal-leaning political affiliation. And I don't know what I think. Perhaps when the sting and grief and outage subside to more manageable amounts, I'll have more of an idea as to what I think. Some things to consider: is this where we are in society? do gun-law advocates have the right to sue districts who implement this type of policy given that schooling is a legal requirement for all children? do gun-rights activists have the right to say which types of weapons should be allowed? and would parents have the right to know which teachers were carrying weapons under the Freedom of Information act? There are more questions than these, I know, but just some things I've got bouncing in my head. I see benefits; I see problems; I'm curious to hear educated people give their opinion.
