This question was inspired by today, 12/20/12, being the 200th anniversary of the first edition of 'Grimm's Fairy Tales.” I read a lot of fairy tales as a child, including the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen.
I came across research a while back that said that your favorite fairy tale(s) as a child was indicative of your character and/or what was important to you, both then and as an adult.
My two favorite fairy tales (both by the Brothers Grimm) are 'Faithful John\" and \"The Six Swans,' (which is similar to Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Wild Swans.') Both fairy tales have the common theme of loyalty and sacrifice and ‘Faithful John’ is also about friendship. In my case, the research is eerily accurate.
