My generous, unselfish, superbly caring, and willing-to-do-anything-for-me boyfriend, literally picked me up from off street. You see, I have Narcolepsy with Cataplexy. The latter causes sudden loss of muscle tone and resulted in total collapse.
It is triggered by strong emotions and we had been discussing a variety of deep topics including the Passion as we were going for a romantic walk in the park. I became intensely aware of how much pain Christ bore for me, the unpredictability of when the next formidable burden would strike, and the love His suffering encapsulated.
I stumbled twice and then collapsed completely not being able to move at all yet my hearing was intact. My boyfriend calmly elevated my head, checked my air passageway and explained he was going to have a passerby help place me safely in the car he went to retrieve. It is not a medical emergency AND at the same time it can certainly look alarming to someone unfamiliar with the situation and its cause. From Day 1 he's handled my condition with grace. Ever so immensely grateful am I.
