In seventh grade, I did a science experiment for school. I built a maze, about 2'x2'. Then I built an electromagnetic field to surround the maze, using batteries and wire (my dad helped). Then I took my two gerbils, Tom and Nia, and observed how long it took each of them to navigate the maze with and without the electromagnetic field.
Both gerbils consistently took longer to get through the maze with the field deactivated. They seemed disoriented and a little confused. With the field activated, I don't know, maybe they felt their true north more solidly, they always came through more quickly.
My dreams feel that way. I'm trying to navigate an endless turning corridor, not sure where I'm going or why, or how I'll eventually get there. I feel like there's an end, but I won't make it. I wake up feeling lost. I don't know where my true north is.
I won 'Most Scientific' for that experiment.
