I have a great uncle who passed away a couple years ago. I never really knew him, though I saw him occasionally. I remember his crazy white hair and his big brown eyes, like my grandma's, but hers are joyful and his were desperate. He struggled with alcoholism his whole life, and always seemed lost in a fog. I think about him a lot, and wonder what happened to him and why he turned to alcohol to help him out. I never really had the chance to talk to him.
